Meet at St Michaels Church by 3.00pm

An added attraction will be the opportunity to stay on at the end of the walk in the last building visited to enjoy some South Indian food.  The building is now an Indian Restaurant as well as being the earliest residential building so far identified in the town.  It has been radiocarbon dated to 1300-1326.

We will look at a number of buildings, but only the final building (formerly the Anchor public house) will be looked at internally.  We have unfortunately been unable to persuade the church authorities to open either St Michael’s Church or Church Cottage.  However, a study pack including drawings, articles and notes about these and other buildings will be issued to participants at the beginning of the walk.

When we meet at the Church at 3.00pm, you will be asked if you intend to stay on for the meal at the Elai Restaurant.  This is so that the restaurant knows the approximate number of diners.  There will be flexibility either way, as the restaurant only requires advance notice of approximate numbers.

The walk will cost £5 for members and £8 for guests. Numbers will be limited to twenty.
