Landscape Section

In September 1986 Michael Hicks, the then Secretary, called a meeting of people who were interested in the formation of a new section for the Field Club. This led to the formation of a Steering Committee, where the Section Constitution was decided and the beginnings of a programme of events were planned. The Inaugural Meeting of the Landscape Section Committee took place on the 6th December 1986; Chris Currie moved the resolution that the Landscape Section be established as a section of the HFC.

The landscape of Hampshire reflects changing social, political and economic decisions taken throughout history up to the present day.

The Landscape Section aims to encourage and enhance the understanding and appreciation of all aspects of the Hampshire landscape. It hopes to provide a forum in which the knowledge and expertise of people and organisations with landscape interests, be they public or private, local or regional, professional or amateur, can be made available to all who have an interest in the Hampshire landscape.

To this end we organise field meetings and conferences, and publish our activities in the Newsletter.

The Constitution

The Landscape Section Steering Committee developed a Constitution in 1986. Since that date the Constitution has remained unchanged. It has been decided that a new version of the Consitution is necessary. With this in mind, a draft constitution has been written. Both version are available, as pdf documents for comparison:
