'The Peoples of Britain and Ireland:
Where do we come from? Some recent ideas. '

David Miles is currently Chief Archaeologist at English Heritage.

Abstract

David Miles will begin his talk with some general observations concerning certain clichés related to immigration and will then consider recent work on genetics. The main body of the presentation will look at immigration during the Neolithic Period.

He was previously the Director of Oxford Archaeological Unit, he was an Associate Professor of Stanford University and is a Research Fellow of the Institute of Archaeology, Oxford and a fellow of Kellogg College, Oxford. His particular interests are the history of the English landscape and the archaeology of the first millennium AD. He has worked in many areas of England and also France, Greece, Israel, Africa and the Americas.
