Local History SectionAdmiral Cornwallis and Georgian LymingtonDate: Saturday, 29th June 2019 This year's summer outing had two main components. The first is the preview of events being planned by Milford-on-Sea Historical Record Society to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the death of Admiral Cornwallis (see article by Barry Jolly in the Newsletter). It will include a visit to the exhibition which is being mounted at the St Barbe Museum in Lymington. The second is an opportunity to view some of the surviving features of Georgian Lymington. The will be the Local History Section's first outing to Lymington since 1980. Please note that the timings below are approximate. Progamme 09.45 - 10.00, Meet at the Community Centre Lymington for registration and tea/coffee. 10.15 - 10.30, Short talk on Lymington and District Historical Society 10.30 - 11.30, Talk on Admiral Cornwallis and his Commemoration 12.00 - 13.00, Lunch 13.00 - 14.30, Visit to the Cornwallis Exhibition 14.30 - 15.30, Guided walk focussing on the surviving features of Georgian Lyminton 15.30 - 16.00, Return to St Barbe Museum for afternoon tea and follow up.
